Wayne Salter commenced his career in the Space Industry after graduating with a BA in Engineering Science from Oxford University. He first worked on the design, simulation and testing of satellite control systems at British Aerospace before moving to the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt just outside of Munich to work on the design and implementation of the ground segment systems in support of manned space missions. Since 1996 he has been working at CERN in a number of different areas. Firstly, he led the Joint Controls Project supporting the LHC experiments in the development of their control systems. He then took over the responsibility for the CERN external networking before taking up his current role in which he is responsible for the operation of the CERN central computing facilities.
